Hagaribommanahalli, Aug. 12: The birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the father of Indian space science, was celebrated at Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra – Hagaribommanahalli.
- Kumari Gagan, a class 10 student, explained the birth of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, his wealthy family background and his childhood environment under the influence of great figures like Gandhiji and Rabindranath Tagore, and talked about his school education and higher science education received at Cambridge University.
- Then, Kumari Sinchana, a Class 10 student, spoke and mentioned his important role in the establishment of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the construction of India’s first satellite ‘Aryabhata’. She shared his vision of establishing prestigious institutions like Ahmedabad and using technology for the development of the country. She reminded him of the ‘Padma Bhushan’ and ‘Padma Vibhushan’ awards that he had received.
ಹಗರಿಬೊಮ್ಮನಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಆ. 12: ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ ವಿದ್ಯಾಕೇಂದ್ರ – ಹಗರಿಬೊಮ್ಮನಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಪಿತಾಮಹ ಡಾ. ವಿಕ್ರಂ ಸಾರಾಭಾಯಿ ಅವರ ಜಯಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
- 10ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯಾದ ಕುಮಾರಿ ಗಗನ ಡಾ. ವಿಕ್ರಂ ಸಾರಾಭಾಯಿ ಅವರ ಜನನ, ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ, ರವೀಂದ್ರನಾಥ ಠಾಗೋರ್ ಅವರಂತಹ ಮಹನೀಯರ ಪ್ರಭಾವದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅವರ ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ಶಾಲಾ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮತ್ತು ಕೇಂಬ್ರಿಡ್ಜ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಡೆದ ಉನ್ನತ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಕುರಿತು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಳು.
- ನಂತರ ಹತ್ತನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ಕುಮಾರಿ ಸಿಂಚನ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ “ಭಾರತೀಯ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ (ISRO) ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾರತದ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಉಪಗ್ರಹ ‘ಆರ್ಯಭಟ’ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಳು. ಅಹಮದಾಬಾದ್ ನಂತಹ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ದೇಶದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿದ ಅವರ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಳು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಲಿದುಬಂದ ‘ಪದ್ಮಭೂಷಣ’ ಮತ್ತು ‘ಪದ್ಮವಿಭೂಷಣ’ ಗೌರವಗಳನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿದಳು.
